Striking St Kilda kitchen renovation with a view

David Slade, part of the Rosemount Kitchens design team, recently created something truly special for our clients in their high-rise apartment in St Kilda.

The clients’ brief was to open up the kitchen/living space and to make full use of the views over the city and Albert Park.

The original kitchen was half the size, and the island faced the opposite direction, so we removed a wall and a small unused office to open up the space and create an integrated kitchen, dining and living area.

This impressive kitchen renovation presented some challenges, as the ceilings were at two different heights. But the clients were very happy with a finished kitchen in which the ceiling was level.

Key Kitchen Features:

There were a number of items that were very important to incorporate into the striking design:

• mirrored splash backs
• integrated fridge and freezer
• 2 wine fridges
• solid surface bench tops
• handle less design
• twin cylinder range hoods by Smeg

At the top of the list – making the room bigger.

The before kitchen was a poorly designed, small white 2 pack gloss kitchen with a marble bench.

The newly designed kitchen is the complete opposite, in both colour and design.

The island bench now faces the floor to ceiling windows, and those wonderful views over the city. The kitchen is also much bigger, allowing for integrated appliances and plenty of space to cook and entertain with family and friends.

Aspects the clients love:

• SERVO-DRIVE by Blum on all drawers, to give a handle-less look. (The only handles are on the integrated fridges and pantry)
• The pull out drawers in the pantry for easy access to all food items
• The Smeg twin rangehood
• The smoked grey mirrored splashbacks, reflecting the views from the city and the high gloss black cabinetry reflecting the views of Albert Park.
